Why a straight razor is different
A cartridge razor cuts hair at skin level. A straight razor lets us adjust the angle and pressure for each part of your face. That control means fewer ingrown hairs and a closer result on the neck and jawline.
Angle control
We change the blade angle for your cheek, neck, and chin. Flat areas take a different approach than the curves.
Stretching the skin
A free hand pulls the skin taut so the razor glides instead of skipping. It's a small thing that makes a big difference.
Beard mapping
Before we shave, we look at which way your beard grows. Shaving against the grain everywhere causes irritation, so we plan the passes.
Aftercare that works
We use a balm with shea and aloe, not an alcohol splash. It calms the skin instead of drying it out.

What happens in the chair
A shave is a sequence. Rushing any part of it shows on your skin later.
Sit back and relax
We recline the chair and put a towel around your collar. No rush, no small talk unless you want it.
First hot towel
A steamed towel goes over your beard for a full minute. This softens the hair and opens the pores.
Oil and lather
We massage in a pre-shave oil, then brush on a warm lather. The brush lifts the hairs for a closer pass.
First razor pass
With the grain first, using short strokes. We rinse the blade after every few strokes to keep it clean.
Second pass and detail
Across the grain on your cheeks and jaw, then a careful pass around the mouth and chin.
Cold towel and balm
A cold towel closes the pores. Then a light balm that absorbs fast and leaves no shine.
